Join us to hear what the leadership hopefuls have to offer.
Ryan Meili
Ryan Meili is a family doctor, educator, community builder, and MLA for Saskatoon Meewasing. For years, he has worked to build healthier communities across Saskatchewan and around the world. He is a passionate advocate for smart, fair, and forward-thinking policy that recognizes that we all do better when everyone has a chance to succeed. He is the author of A Healthy Society: How a Focus on Health Can Revive Canadian Democracy. Ryan is also the founder of Upstream: Institute for a Healthy Society and SWITCH, the Student Wellness Initiative Toward Community Health. He also founded the College of Medicine's Making the Links program, which gives medical students the opportunity to work in Northern Saskatchewan, SWITCH, and rural communities in Mozambique.
Trent Wotherspoon
Trent Wotherspoon was born and raised in Northwest Regina and studied education, math, and business while completing his Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Regina.
He was first elected as the MLA for Regina Rosemont in 2007, and was re-elected in 2011 and 2016.
Trent was a teacher before running for office, building and delivering programs to keep at-risk kids in school and he helped start the Allan Blakeney Campus and founded a youth mentorship program specifically designed to reduce recidivism among young adults transitioning out of the criminal justice system.
As an MLA, Trent has served as the critic for Jobs, Finance, the Economy, Natural Resources, and Youth. Wotherspoon has also served as Deputy Leader and Leader of the Official Opposition.
